Mark Lindsay Duncan Legacy Endowment for the Arts

Professor Mark Duncan, founder of the performing and visual arts programs at Nova Southeastern University, spent his professional life introducing students to new experiences, new passions, new connections. He first built the NSU Theatre program from the ground up – from absurdist Cuban drama on a carpeted stage to performances for children in the Broward Center for the Performing Arts – and then launched programs in Art + Design, Dance, and Music to bring together artists across a range of mediums to tell their individual and collective stories.

Tragically, we lost Mark to cancer at age 49, far too young and far too soon for him to understand how much he had given to his students, colleagues, and the community. The ways he touched our lives will resonate in ours – in the art we make, the careers we accomplish, the families we love, and the connections to each other we forge.

To honor Mark’s legacy, we encourage you to help create the Mark Lindsay Duncan Legacy Endowment for the Arts, which will be used to help support the NSU arts programs Mark created. These programs are housed in the NSU Halmos College of Arts and Sciences.

Your gift will honor Mark’s dedication to the arts, to students, to fostering connections and creativity, and it will keep his work going through the years he should have still been with us.
