AutoNation and racing champion, Ryan Hunter-Reay, endowed NSU’s AutoNation Institute for Breast Cancer Research and Care in 2016.
Our mission is to eradicate breast cancer through prevention as well as development of new clinical strategies that involve personalized medicine.
Our focus is:
- analyzing ancestry-specific sensitivity to environmental chemicals present in S. Florida
- establishing a Live Cell Breast and Tumor Bank that is focused on minority and underserved populations prevalent in South Florida
- evaluating the epigenetics of cancer cells and determining uses of microRNA to prevent drug resistance
- generating targeted cancer therapies based on genomics, transcriptomics and pharmacogenomics,
- testing chemicals included in consumer products to determine if there is a link to cancer, and educating the public and regulatory agencies of concerning findings
- using blood tests to assess biomarkers that indicate if a patient is predisposed to cancer and assessing whether patients will be responsive to chemotherapy
Through the support from generous donors like you, the NSU's AutoNation Institute for Breast Cancer Research and Care will make a lasting impact in the fight against breast cancer. Your contribution will be instrumental in our dedication to pioneering research, innovative treatments, in pushing the needle forward for generations to come.
