The Judge Melanie G. May Scholarship Endowment Fund is named in honor of Judge Melanie G. May (J.D. 1981). This fund will be used to enable SBCOL to keep high-achieving law students at NSU by affording them needed scholarship assistance.
The fund is named after Class of 1981 Alumnae Judge Melanie G. May. Judge May has been among our greatest alumni, giving back at every opportunity while excelling as a lawyer and judge over her stellar career. The fund serves the purpose of keeping our top students in the first year class enrolled at NSU , when they might be lured away by competitor schools that may offer financial and other incentives. Our data proves that these students will be leaders in their law school career and will achieve high passing scores on the bar exam. By providing the Dean with the financial means to keep these students at NSU College of Law, it is a "win-win" for the University, Alumni, and the employers that are fortunate enough to hire them after graduation.
The NSU Law Emerging Leaders Endowed Scholarship Fund was created as part of our 50th Anniversary celebration. Emeritus Professor of Law Bruce Rogow, a member of NSU Law’s founding faculty, and his wife, alumna Jacqueline Rogow (J.D. 1977), made a very generous gift that launched our new Emerging Scholars Endowed Scholarship Fund. The Fund will allow us to offer scholarships to some of our terrific applicants who want to come to NSU Law but are choosing other law schools that are able to offer them larger scholarships.
